Tell us a bit about who you are and what you do.

• • Hi, I’m Alyssa! I’m 31 years old and live in Brooklyn with my 3 cats. I post content within the fashion, hair, and beauty verticals. I genuinely get so much joy when creating and posting, and I love that connecting with others. Right now, I do content creation as a fun side hobby, and during the week I work full time as an Influencer Marketing Manager at a really dope agency!

How did you get started with content creation?

As a kid I adored filming videos of me dancing, acting, etc. with my little sister (& taking photos) so I feel like it was a natural progression to posting online. I remember the day Instagram came out, I was on my way home from high school and I randomly created “heyhialyssa” not knowing that it would become anything more than me posting things for fun! I continued posting all throughout college and slowly gained a small following. Once quarantine happened, I feel like that’s when it really skyrocketed for me and I was able to grow my audience and find a real passion for creating content.

How would you describe your personal style today, and what was the journey like to develop it?

I tend to gravitate towards a baggy, androgynous style. I’ve never been a girly girl, although I do love a skirt and a dress here and there, but there’s nothing better than a swaggy, baggy fit. Layering is one of my favorite ways I personalize outfits plus, as much silver jewelry as possible! I love finding cool pieces secondhand (Depop, Ebay, Postmark) and playing around with different silhouettes. It’s been years in the making, but I just think that if I feel good in it, I look good in it and that’s all that matters!

What was it that brought you to NYC and what are your 3 favorite things about living in the city?

Living in NYC has always a dream of mine. I had wanted to move here for so many years and it never seemed like the universe was aligned with it. I am a big believer in everything happens for a reason and so I wanted my move to NYC to feel like it was suppose to happen. After a few years of yearning for it, I finally decided that it was time and it felt like everything was finally working out. I ended my 8 year long relationship, sold almost everything I owned, and prioritized myself for the first time in my life. Moving here was the best decision I ever made. My top 3 favorite things about living in NYC is: the people, the fashion, and the food!

Describe your perfect winter day in New York! What would you do, where would you eat, what are you wearing?

If it’s the weekend, I’d start my day by making a chai at home and putting on many layers— probably some jeans, a cute top, jacket, jewelry, and a hat if my hair isn’t doing what I like. I’d head over to the Brooklyn Flea, one of my favorite places for clothing, jewelry, and home decor. After I bopped around there for a bit, I’d probably end up at a sushi spot with my best friend for dinner. I’m so obsessed with sushi, it’s my favorite food ever!

How do you think living near a fashion-capital like NYC influences your day-to-day style?

I think that I’ve always had a fun, personal style, but I haven’t lived in places where personal style was appreciated as much as it is here. Since moving to NYC, I feel like I’m more comfortable to try new things and to style pieces in different ways than I ever have before. I am always keeping my eyes peeled when I’m on the subway or walking around because there is so much inspiration everywhere. I love that there’s no pressure to fit into a specific type of box and that having fun with clothes is cool.

It's been cold in NYC!! What are your favorite styling tips for keeping warm while still wearing cool outfits?

Layers!!!! I love layering in general, but adding in some heat-tech leggings and socks from UNIQLO helps keep me warm without needing to change my personal style. I am always cold so layers help a ton!

Tell us 3 trends you can’t wait to try in 2026?

Mixing patterns, finding and styling cool but comfortable shoes (I really want to get my hands on a pair of Salomons), and continuing to play around with different hairstyles.

Are there other ways you love to express yourself artistically outside of social media?

Yes! I love vintage home decor. I pride myself on my apartment and I love going on a hunt to find cool new things that I can potentially add to my home.

How are you styling your JBD jeans this season?

So many different ways! JBD jeans are hands down so comfy and I love the many different style options available. I am so excited to dress mine up (or down) this season and use them to transition to warmer weather soon!
